Ok Lorette.

We arrived in Lorette just as spring had sprung and fortunatley we missed most of the major flooding of the Assiniboine river. Apparently the last group had to do alot of sand-bagging in town and as cool as it would have been to say that I helped with an operation like that I dont regret not having to do that sort or work in such circumstances. While we were in Manitoba were were able to get to WInnipeg a few times, Once for Earth Day, which was pretty cool and other various times for a few workshops. We also met a few people who were involved with the Earth Day march and invited us to a native sweat they held periodically in their village. It was really powerful to be inside that tent in pitch blackness except for the red glow of the stones. Here I worked in a French Immersion school called Ecole Lorette Immersion (ELI). Here I helped in the kindergarten class where mostly every day I was taught a little more french by the little kids. I also helped a bit in the older grades as well, where I met two really cool chicks Alix and Raeleen. I also was asked by the gym teacher to go with the badminton team to UofM for a tournament. It was pretty impressive. I billeted with Tim and Fae Plett who lived really close to our Katima-house. Tim was the pastor for the evangelical church so I tagged along once jsut to see what it was like. It was interesting to say the least and I kind of felt uncomfortable when they asked me if i had found Jesus yet but I rolled with it and thigns were great. They took me up north a bit to see the Snakes of Narcisse pits where millions of snakes congregate to breed. I have never in my life seen so many snakes in one place. Luckily they were gardener snakes so i was able to catch a few for some pictures. We were also able to venture out and visit Turtle Mountain Provincial park and hike to the observation tower where you could see for miles on end in every direction..
