Ah, Paros, what can I say? I came here expecting nothing and it ends up being the party island to beat all party islands! But I nearly didn’t make it.

The ferry from Santorini to Paros was overnight and in the middle of the night a large bang was heard and the ferry stopped dead! We all thought we were going to sink but apparently all that had happened was the motor had totally blown up. Was that all? No to worry we thought, until the crew went around the ship telling everyone we had to evacuate. I thought that would mean life rafts, women and children and all that, but we only had to wait for a relief ferry to arrive.

In the middle of the night a large bang was heard and the ferry stopped dead!

Once at Paros though things soon got back to normal. I found a campsite to pass out in and then carried on where I left off in Ios. The atmosphere at the campsite was awesome and everybody was in party mode. A big group of us went to the local supermarket and bought about 20 watermelons, 20 bottles of vodka and 20 straws. Some English girls then made vodka bombs (pour the bottle of vodka into a hole in the watermelon, plug hole and refrigerate for a few hours). That evening the 20 of us took a watermelon each to the beach and, straw in hand, proceeded to get annihilated! Oooh, it was an evil night. It was a bit hazy the next morning but I do remember going to the Hard Rock Café and dancing on the bar – oh dear!

The next couple of days followed the same pattern and I was starting to feel a bit on the run down side. I really needed to relax for a while – alcohol free.

Athens was next on my itinerary so I decided to book a ferry before things got out of hand, or another drinking session was suggested.
