Ehemm its Coffs Harbour
From Our Round the world Trip.... Pt 1 Australia in Coffs Harbour, Australia on Apr 07 '06
This is catch-up time, as you can see we were in Coffs Harbour over a month ago now, but i'll still tell you the story....
We were only planning on being in Coffs for a few days, or just long enough so that we weren't on any long bus journeys for my birthday!
We were going to be cheapskates and spend the few nights at a crappy hotel, which is listed in the Lonely Planet as an entertainment venue rather then somewhere to sleep, so we changed our minds on that quite quickly and chose the YHA close to the beach, im the end an excellent choice.
We didnt do much in Coffs at all really, just enjoyed the hostels really good facilities and beach-it. Si tried to go on a shopping spree for my birthday pressie, only to find that the maybe 2 shops that existed were closed, so he went for a beach walk and I had a long, hot shower and painted my nails, what a treat!
Well that was that and before we knew it it was the 9th of April...da da dahhh and I woke up to Simon eagerly going to make me breakfast. He laid out my makeshift cards and pressies and some sweet smelling frangipani flowers on the table with my bowl of Uncle Tobys, out in the morning sunshine, next to the pool...aaah!
Then we just went to the beach, ALL day and the sun shone ALL day and we played in the sea with body boards ALL day and made up a game where I whizzed ALL the way up the beach, I was generally very giggly, and it was a fun, and i think it was called "the bus that could never slow down/birthday". It was pretty different to many of my birthdays, mainly because the sun was out (not snowing) and I realised it was the first birthday in my entire 24 years of life that I hadnt been with my family...aaah.
Si didnt actually get me any pressies for my birthday but instead wrote me a lovely letter and gave me some shells and even tried his hand at flower arranging! We did go out for a really yummy dinner though to a Italian restaurant called Marias, I thought if it was gonna be as nice as Maria Scotts it was gonna be ok! Had nice meat-filled dinner..mmmm lamb..and actually no pasta in site, which is a good change every so often.
The next day was pretty similar and we just enjoyed the hot sunny weather and the beach. Si dabelled with a bit of surfing and body boarding as the water was quite warm, while I did of lot of snoozing and sitting. That basically sums up our time in Coffs Harbour and what to do if you evr get that way, its a nice place, with a lovely, quiet beach so go there!
Theres more coming, dont panic, we are doing our best so that you're more up to date. Hope you're all well
Love Jem and Si XXX
