Pretty Santorini

Santorini!! I had been looking forward to this stop for the whole trip because of the white houses and the pretty scenery from the Travelling Pants. (ha!) We got there and you could see all of the little houses sitting periously on top of the cliff. It was very funny looking, and it's shocking they don't fall into the ocean. We had to take tenders to land, so we had to get on these little boats and go from the boat to the New Harbour. The only way to get up to Santorini is go to the New Harbour where the tour groups go, because it is the only place that vechicles can reach. The individuals go to the Old harobur, and must acsend the hills by cable car or by donkey. We got a free descent from Santorini because we went on a tour, so I was super stoked to ride a donkey. Ah! Our tour was called the Hidden Villages of Santorini, so we went to 3 different villages on the island and the popular black beach Perissa. What is funny about Santorini is that since it is such a small island, you can see the ocean from any point on the island. Each town is spread out a little ways from eachother, and it is kind of amusing that they just don't make the entire island Santorini, and not a, province lets say. The tour wasn't that good. She didn't give us any information and just basically took us on a little walk for each. I still liked it though, because the villages are so picturesce. However, I didn't realize that Greece would be such a desert like climate. I assumed the islands would be tropical. Santorini was so rocky and dry. It's actually a volcanic island!! Very cool. So we went to Perissa, which is a black beach. The sand was actually black! It is the main beach of Santorini and was one of the nicest beaches I've been to. We got an hour and a half there, and I have to say the Mediterranian was the best water I've been in at the beach. Our tour ended in Fifa Town (I'm pretty sure that is not how you spell it, but that's my best shot) This was the town we saw from the boat, and it is the prettiest town I've been to. All of the resuraunts and hotels are descended into the cliff, so you are eating while right looking out to the ocean. You see all the white houses and blue doors, and there are plenty of jewlery shops. Then it was time to go.... donw on the donkey!! I was so excited. I felt very bad for the donkeys though. I don't think they are treated very well. It reminded me of hamsters in the pet store. But it was fun. I swear my donkey wanted to ram me into the wall though. Mom and Dad just walked down which is a waste I'd say. We then went to the barbeque that was taking that place on the boat. The food is so good on the boat, oh my gosh. They say you gain a pound a day. And yeah!
