Nichola thinks Jodie made an error...in Kuala Lumpur
From Liver and Onions versus the world... in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Jan 21 '09
There are two sides to this error story. Let's hear Jodie's side first:
He was staring at me, I waved at him and he did not wink at me.
We've wandered near the Petronas Towers but have yet to see lycra-clad Catherine Zeta Jones
This is my version...
To explain, since arriving in Malaysia we've been stared at A LOT. We're not sure why...possibly something to do with Jodie's Palestinian head garb, maybe something to do with Nichola looking possibly a wee bit middle eastern, maybe our flies were down? But we've been stared at by a LOT of people. In Thailand/Vietnam/Laos, etc we were stared at with curiosity and the wee folk would always come up to us for a chat. Lovely people. Jodie commented that he's getting performance anxiety when he's eating hahaha. They GAWK at us...herded in groups with a collective look of terror 'pon their faces as though Godzilla had just walked in to their local shop. So we've started to wave at them or say hello. More often than not this freaks them out even more, which we have to admit we find hilarious. In fact, we're considering buying some fake fangs to wear while we're walking about hahaha. So yeah, it's not a big deal, but we do find it quite funny. Anyhoo, we were walking outside some big shopping centre when I saw Jodie waving at someone; I looked over to see this guy - wearing a TIGHT pink T-shirt and tight white denim shorts - winking and smiling at Jodie. Oh yes, a wink. Jodie emphatically denies that he received such a wink, and thanks to his colour-blindness he didn't realise the t-shirt was pink, but I saw that wink...quickly disguised as a two-eyed blink when I looked over to ensure I wouldn't suspect this lothario had just winked at my man. In light of this situation we're reconsidering our stance on the wave.
So yeah, that's the wink story.
In other KL news, we've been sweaty thanks to the EXTREMELY humid climate here. We've walked around Chinatown and marvelled at the number of stalls selling fake bags/DVDs, we've been to Little India and eaten the TASTIEST vegetarian food and Galub Jaman. Oh yes, Galub Jaman. We were both looking healthy up until now; India is going to be our downfall in terms of healthy eating we think. We've wandered near the Petronas Towers but have yet to see lycra-clad Catherine Zeta Jones, we have toyed with the idea of getting up early to see the Petronas Towers but so far have risen from our slumber after 12pm (oops), we've watched some films (The Happening which was actually pretty decent). So yeah, that's it so far! We'll be here for Chinese New Year on the 26th which we're really looking forward to, then the plan is to head to Melaka before we spend our final 3 days in Singapore. Then onwards to Injah! Which we're excited but a wee bit nervous about. WOOWOO!
Happy birthday papa b for the 22nd!
