Flying visit - only here for one full day. We both really liked it , more than we were expecting to. Wished we'd planned to stay a bit longer. The best thing about Honolulu is that there are loads of Japanese tourists here, which is good because it makes for a very chilled out atmosphere and there's loads of great Japanese food :o)
Along with the Japanese, there is a massive US military presence - don't think the two are related though. We saw five warships, a submarine and fighter jets from our sunbathing spot on Waikiki beach.
No sign of Magnum PI
As well as all of this there is still all the surf culture stuff that you would expect of Hawaii. We didn't do any surfing or hula dancing.
