Who says you have to travel EVERY weekend?

OK, so last Thursday and following Thursdays from now on, our group will be having "special dinner" funded by a generous donation from Robin and Cindy Perrin, the host family here in Heidelberg who is living with us. The deal is that Essig Haus, the restaurant that we eat at every night is just...well...it's bland and gets old very quickly. As previous alums of the Heidelberg program, the Perrins realize this and therefore created Special Dinner Thursdays. With special dinner Thursdays come dressing up, especially last week, as Senator Jack Scott and his wife were visiting. However, as my friend Skyler so eloquently put it, “Don't ask the house to get dressed up for dinner because then we have the ability to hit up the town at 7 pm because hey we are already dressed. Bad things happen when we take over Heidelberg at such an early hour! But, I LOVE IT!” Truth of the matter is we went out on the town at, yes-it's true, 7 pm in the evening! It was FABULOUS! We again visited one of our favorite places, the Dubliner. However, this is merely the introduction to our weekend. The next morning at 5 AM we were supposed to get up and take the train to Munich for Oktoberfest, however, of course that wasn’t going to happen. It was destiny. Instead we ended up spending a wonderful weekend at home in Heidelberg. Friday we spent the afternoon down on the Hauptstrasse at a local coffee shop working on homework, as classes started last Monday the 18th. Then, on Saturday, after some of the Oktoberfest travelers returned to Moore Haus, a group of us, eleven girls, decided to go to Baden-Baden (read other entry). Saturday night = highlight of the weekend. As a result of the entire boy’s floor being gone traveling, as well as Skyler’s genius thought, four of us girls took to dressing up in the boy’s clothes, posing as they would, and finally proceeding to tag them on facebook (online college network system) as them, not us! It was hilarious! Sunday, we simply spent another afternoon in Heidelberg, finishing homework and enjoying the warm, fall weather.
