We arrived in Rome, Italy from Split, Croatia on April 11^th. Jean from Jean’s House of Travel outdid herself again with a wonderful Hotel called The Concordia, right in the middle of everything. We were within walking distance of the famous Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps. We were treated to Italian comfort food, ala spaghetti, a real treat after Croatian cuisine.

One of the highlights of our trip though, was the Vatican, where we walked into the weekly audience that the Pope holds on Wednesday mornings. We were part of the masses of people; it was an amazing experience we have only witnessed on television. We had hoped for an audience with the Pope but ended up with a cappuccino instead.

We ended up seeing the Vatican, Saint Peters Basilica, Sistine Chapel and the Pantheon. A drive by of the Coliseum and the Forum rounded out our “Rome in a day”. Needless to say we sampled both great food and cappuccinos’.
