Barcelona is a very beautiful new city. It is the least Spanish we have encountered since being over here and the most like London.  Barcelona, we found is the most accommodating Spanish city for tourist (probably due to the olympics)

Barcelona is a city full of amazing modernist buildings. We spent our first day here wondering the streets and admiring these structures. The most famous and striking building is the La Sadrada Familia which began construction in 1822 and should be completed in 2020ish. The whole design of the building is to combine elements of nature with the catholic church and it is really impressive to see even though it is unfinished. The same architect designed many buildings around Barcelona. The second most famous piece he did was a park on a hill which was going to be a self sustainable community however the project failed  and what is left is a amazing area with some cool buildings.

Whilst here we also visited a few markets (one in particular was extremely busy - announcements kept coming over telling people to watch their belongings) and strolled the many shopping streets. We visited the docklands and watched the thousands and thousands of fish swim along the pier and then headed to the beach (it was a bit cold though). One of our nights here we went to the greatest sound, light and water show ever produced. There were a series of water fountains spraying everywhere with some nice lighting and the cheesiest music you have ever heard. It was hilarious. The highlight of the night was a bride and groom trying to get their photos done and a group of asian tourists consantly wrecking them by getting in their shots.

We loved our time in Barcelona and has made us love Spain even more. Sadly it is our last stop here as we head off tonight on a 14 hour bus trip to Switzerland (we should be excited but 14 hours on a bus kind of brings us down).
