Day 1

I arrived in London after a looong flight. Of course, I had no idea how to catch a train to Bath but a nice baggage handler gave me directions and told me that the coach is the best way there because it's only 30 quid. "Oh, that's so much better than the rail price," I say after having him explain what exactly a "coach" was (it's a bus). Actually, I had no idea what 30 quid was or if that was the same as 30 pounds (it is). So, I made my way to the bus station and bought a cheap ticket (only £18) and waited for the coach. The drive was so beautiful and took us through the hills and villages between London and Bath. My first thought was that it looked a lot like Albany, which made me miss New York. Directly after that though, I just felt like I was home. I can't explain it. Maybe it's because it did look so much like my original home town area. Anyway, I didn't feel like a stranger and still haven't since I arrived.

I checked into my hostel upon leaving my bus and met some lovely women from Washington State. We decided to take a nap (I'd been up for 24 hours at this point) and then, since they rented a car, we'd drive to the market for some food. The nap was scary and the drive was nice. Wait, reverse that. We hit a car and later almost got arrested. Driving in Bath reminds me of driving in Mexico with smaller streets. It's insane!! After getting lost and finding our way, only to get lost again, we finally got back to the hostel. I ate Bangers N Mash and then went to sleep. Phew! What a day.

I can't post pictures from this computer, but I promise to post them as soon as I can find an internet cafe (I saw one last night but was distracted by the whole "almost getting arrested" thing).
