Ou e'st la Marches aux Puces?
From Paris in Seventeen Days in Paris, France on Sep 08 '06
Susan, Lincoln and I headed out to the Musee D'Orsay today after our traditional cafe creme and croissant at the local boulangerie. This was my second visit to the D'Orsay during this trip, so I spent more time in the decorative arts (loved the art nouveau glass).
Afterwards, we went in search of a Paris flea market proposed to be the most interesting and civilized of them all. We headed out to the Vanves metro stop, asked directions from several people, only to find out the market closed at two (and our guides to Paris advertised that it was open until 4:30...)
Not to be daunted, we went to Ste. Germain de Pres, a very toney area of Paris and walked around. We had wine and appetizers (entrees, here) and basked in our good fortune to be enjoying this gorgeous city together. We had dinner at a restaurant in Place Dauphine (the area having been recommended by Richard). Very lovely... our waiters, Carlos, Michel and Sami, were very accommodating and the meals were wonderful. Susan ate beef for the first time in 20 years. The chocolate fondant for dessert nearly killed us all!
