Another rainy day

I knew after a day of not quite making it to Point Dume on the other side of Malibu, that I had to hike that direction today. I waited for the bus, but then I became convinced that the bus never runs that road anymore due to construction (other cars still pass through, but the bus never seems to make it there). I started walking around the route the bus would take hoping to pick it up at a different spot. No luck. I looked up and realised once again that today would be a rainy day. My clothes have barely dried from last night's downpour. I went back to the hostel and changed my clothes into something warmer and a little more fashionable, so I could instead visit Century City and Beverly Hills. As I exited the hostel the rain began and I realized it was going to be a wet walk. A little rain never scared me away and I walked 20 blocks before deciding to turn around and eat at the Real Food Vegan Restaurant. I had an entree called the "Emerald Forest" which was a lentil, carrot, and millet loaf with carrots, turnups, potatoes, and spinach. It was incredible and the waitress gave me a chocolate chip cookie for free when I left saying "this is for your hike". I walk about 35 blocks before stopping into the library to update my blog. I continue walking through West Los Angeles and then Century City ending my walk on the Avenue of the Stars. I have no clue how far I walked, but I can only estimate it was about 10 miles...enough that every person I met today thought I was ridiculous for trying to walk to Century City...most said it was impossible. Is this simply a reflection on the Los Angeles lifestyle of "drive everywhere, walk nowhere" or am I just an incredibly fast walker? Maybe both? I decide to take the bus back to Santa Monica...I am soaked through from the rain and it is getting dark. I stop and update this blog before heading to the hostel to dry out, talk and cook some dinner. It has been another weird day in L.A. and I only have one more day left here before I head to Santa Barbara (or at least that is my goal)...and the weather forecast is for horrible storms through Monday morning....eek.

If it rains everyday, am I going to forget that this is supposed to be fun? I hope not...but squeaky sneakers are lame.
