So we finished up our big trip in Bribane, for a little chill out time with some family and one more city to discover. We got to Brisbane in the morning after having gotten up in Cairns way too early, and we spent the day chilling with Shani’s family and trying not to fall asleep. It was a good chill relax day, just what we needed! Plus we had big plans for the next few days!

The next day we got up and ready to hit the Australian Zoo (Steve Irwin’s Zoo). It was such a good day. The zoo was amazing. The zoo-keepers were friendly and interactive and so were the animals. One of the big things that Shani and I wanted to do was hold a koala, which we did! We also got to pet them in their habitat. They are very soft and cuddly, except for their claws, which are very sharp! There was so much to do too. We fed the kangaroos and wallabies, we saw the elephants and tigers, and there were crocodiles everywhere. It was a fun day, definitely brought the kid out in you!

After a big day at the Australian Zoo, we spent the next day at Wet’n’Wild in the Gold Coast (remember I was saying the Gold Coast was known for its theme parks, well this is one of them!). It was a massive water park with tons to do. The water was definitely welcome in the hot sticky weather as well. They had a water-coaster that was so much fun and this funnel-slide thing that was also really cool. The park was fun and I would definitely recommend people to go!

After some animals and waterslides, I was to leave the next day to head back to Sydney. Though I didn’t leave without seeing Brisbane downtown and doing a little shopping! So Shani and I hit the shops on Halloween day and I left that night to go back to Sydney. Shani left that Saturday to the cold, snowy-ness of Canada. She will be missed!

That concludes that big trip up the coast. It was amazing and I would recommend that anyone do any or all (preferably all!). This country has so many amazing places that are just beautiful. And you can’t go wrong with warm sunny weather!
