Santa Cruz, La Palma, Canary Islands 12/13
From Greece and the Great Mediterranean/Transatlantic Cruise in Santa Cruz, Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain on Dec 12 '07
I was wrong we were not on the same island as Aric and Tammy but another less commericial island. We enjoyed walking around the little town and just enjoying the local scenery. No one speaks much English. Stopped into a pharmacy to see about some antibiotics for my leg as it isn't healing well from my fall on Crete 8 days ago. Raised my leg to show the pharmacist and our table mate, John, who was with us grabbed it to raise it further catching me by surprise and resulting in me falling backwards on my bum on the floor! Much to the laugh of some and the concerns of others. No damage other than to my pride.
Upon our return to the ship we went to the ship's hospital and I was seen by one of the ship's doctors (from Greece). He appeared to be a bit formal to begin with but by the time we were through he kissed my hand! I have to return there every day for the next few days to have the dressing changed and have my hand kissed!
We sat on the aft deck to watch our departure from La Palma as that is the last land we will see for 6 days (5 days at sea). Weather beautiful!
Many folks from Puerto Rico joined the ship in Barcelona (hundreds) so lots of Latin flavour.
