Dubrovnik is Definitely a Jewel

Someone (important!) once called Dubrovnik the jewel of the Adriatic and it is not hard to understand why.  The water around Dubrovnik is so clear, it actually glitters like a jewel.  It is spectacular.

The old town is amazing.  We didn't have long in Dubrovnik but we were damn sure to make the most of it.  When we arrived, after our hour and a half in Kotor, we made a beeline for the old town.  The Old Town isn't large, but it takes forever to see it all because of the photo opportunities.  Maybe if you aren't a photographer you could get through it quicker, but everywhere you turn are stunning and breathtaking views.

We spent several walking the walls of the city, and it was well worth the entry fee.  The mediteranean architecture, coupled with the crystal clear water and the rocky cliffs made for some of the nicest scenery on our trip.  All four of us were in absolute awe.

Following the wall, we went to the greatest pub ever.  The pub was on the rocky cliff on the outside of the wall.  We sat there with our legs up, drinking cocktails, listening to the sound of the ocean and just generally enjoying the atmosphere.

Our hosts in Dubrovnik were actually one of the highlights.  Most accomodations in this part of the world is some little old couples home.  They meet you at the bus stop and offer you a room in their home.  They are quite persistent, so don't be afraid and be stern - there is no fear though, they honestly rent out their extra bedrooms and feed you, all for a reasonable price.  Our host, Maria, was the sweetest old lady - she loved Canadian and was the hostess with the mostess - she anticipated our every need, and met it.  It was wonderful.

This was our last night travelling with Sharlene and Ryan, so the four of us had a really nice dinner and then had to bid farewell.  I was very sad!  I miss my friends!

Anyway, our time in Dubrovnik was amazing.  Aside from the city being overrun with cats and cruise ships we didn't have a single complaint.  Anyone who goes there should really take advantage of the greatest pub in the world - it's not hard to miss.
