Well I finally made it to Cyprus!!!! The plane ride here was loaded with turbulence and it was kind of scary but we flew right over the Alps and that was by far the coolest thing I have ever seen!!! I loved it. I was sitting next to a couple who lives in Larnaca. They were really cool and friendly and gave me their number and told me to call them and then come and visit! it was so cool! So my roommates and I just might have to do that! I also met another couple in the Heathrow airport who also live in Larnaca who gave me their phone number and told my friends and I to come visit too!! It was unreal, these people are soo nice and friendly! My apartment is really nice and has a total of three verandas. I love that part! it's 60-65 here and its amazing! Take a look at the pics of my apartment. I live with three other girls. Merry, Mandy, and Laura. They are all really cool and a lot of fun!!! My first night in Cyprus was a lot of fun. We went out to a bar with everyone and got drunk! The bartender was giving everyone free rounds of shots! it was amazing! Needless to say I was really drunk and woke up with a hangover.

My first day in Nicosia started with a walking tour/bus tour of Nicosia or as the Greeks say Lefkosia, which is the capital city of Cyprus. We saw a lot of stuff and learned some history..I love it. We drove down the streets of Nicosia on a bus and say the Old City and the New City. Nicosia is split by the "Green Line" and we were able to see the buffer zone of the UN and then the Turkish flags on one side and the Cyprus flags on the other. We saw a really amazing church call the Church of Archangel Michael Trypiotis. It was beautiful!  As we walked along the narrow streets of Nicosia we saw the monument to liberty when Cyprus won their independence from Britain in 1960. We also walked by the new Archbishopric, the seat of the Cyprus Orthodox Church and was built in 1960. The old Archbishopric was built in 1730 stands along side of it. We went downtown and walked along the streets with all of the bars and restaurants and shops. It was wonderful! After the walking tour we went grocery shopping and ate some food, unpacked, ate ice cream at papafilpou's--apparently the best ice cream in Cyprus. It was good but not the best. Coldstone is way better. haha. Going to bed early tonight...LAME! however I'm exhausted. Orientation all this week!!!!!

Jenn! I'm so jealous! Your place looks great. Where are your roomies from? Yeah, I remember in Crete that the bathrooms were the same way. It seemed weird that they could handle . . . other things that were solid but not toilet paper.
