Planes and Trains
From My Study Abroad in England in Manchester Airport, United Kingdom on Sep 14 '07

From London I took a connecting flight to Manchester, which was about an hour's ride. I sat next to a very nice gentleman who proceeded to talk the whole time while I tried to scarf down the sandwich and water they gave us. When I got to the airport I had to collect my bags. Everyone from the flight was standing around the conveyor waiting for their bags to come by. I thought I saw one of mine go by, but it had a bright orange tag on it. The next time it went by I saw that it said 'overweight bag'. I tried to hang back until most of the other people had left before I grabbed it.
Then I embarked on phase two of my trip: TRAINS. The trains were pretty easy to navigate. The tickets I had weren't quite right, so I had to buy an additional ticket. I took the first train to Leeds and then changed trains to go to Bradford. Between my two bags and my backpack I was probably carting around 130 lbs. When I was getting off the train in Bradford a French student offered to help me take my bags off. I warned him that it was heavy, but the look he gave me was priceless. He was nice and helped me pull my bags up to my hotel.
Then I embarked on phase two of my trip: TRAINS.
I stayed the first night in Bradford. I had met Josie at the orientation in CA before I left so she came and met me at the hotel for dinner. We walked down town and ate at a very good Chinese restaurant.
