Ahhh the Poms!
From Europe 2008 in London, United Kingdom on Apr 19 '08
Heya, We arrive in London expecting freezing cold weather & were pleasantly suprised with a mild 16 degrees & intermittent cloud! The papers state "Heat wave hits London with temperatures hitting 17 degrees celcius", I couldnt help but laugh! We did another hop on hop off bus tour which gave us a good idea about what to cover in London! London is full of toursit & historical landmarks & so here a few: Big Ben, London Eye, St Paul's Cathedral, Buckingham Palace (saw the changing of the guards), Kennsington Palace (many of Princess Diana's dresses & the bedroom in which Elizabeth 1 was informed that she would be Queen), British museum, Hyde park, Diana's memorial fountain, London Bridge (saw the canons firing for the Queens birthday), london dungeons, all the places on the Monopoly board! Went to Madame Taussards (wax museum), some of them are so lifelike, contemplated melting the John Howard replica (sorry to all the liberals reading!) Walked through St James's Park & saw squirrels & a local gave us peanuts & so we handfed the squirrels! Westminster abbey was impressive also, took about 1 & 1/2 hours to walk through with the graves of Queen Elizabeth & her sister once Queen Mary. They say the Australians flock to the UK & it is true, we met so many Aussies, even a family that live a few blocks from mum & dads! Small world... Kristy also met a man she worked with at our backpackers! Well noting all the places that I have seen as above, then you can imagine how much money I spent when you convert to pounds! anyway, London was fun, but a very busy city & even though I would come back to visit I still have no inclination to live in London! Love home too much & the weather at home! xx
