We opted for the cheaper way of getting to Argentina from Uruguay and ended up on a beautiful boat ride through the delta of the Parana river.

What a great way to start off our journey in Argentina....in a fairly large city with a small town feeling (something we obviously really enjoy!). We had never thought of visiting Tigre since we had never even heard of it! But an Uruguayan lady at the bus station in Colonia told us we would love it there and she convinced us to visit! There is only one hostel in the town....and it´s as nice as they come! It is a recently renovated old house that has all of the amenities you can imagine (their kitchen being the best part). When we first arrived, we did`t even know in what Province of Argentina we were in! Later we found out that we were in the Province of Buenos Aires and we were only a 45 minute train ride away from Argentina`s grand capital!

Arriving to Tigre was a great surprise! We were expecting a small border type city, but discovered that it is an amazing place and should be part of anyones itinerary visiting Buenos Aires.

Our "paseos" around Tigre included a visit to the city of San Isidro (where there is a gorgeous church), Puerto de los Frutos (a really cool year-round crafts fair in downtown Tigre), and a little hike through one of the islands on the delta where Porteños have their wonderful vacation homes!

What a great way to star our journey in Argentina...
