We're in Railay, which is a little ways away from Krabi, Thailand.  A little ways away by boat.  You can't get here by road, only by boat.  And by boat, I mean, you have to wade in the water to get to a wooden boat, hoist yourself over the side, and then when you get to your destination, you do the same thing but in reverse order.  By wading, I don't mean to your ankles.  At some points, the water has gone to my thighs.  The first time, I was surprised and a little annoyed.  But now, it's kinda fun - very different from anything that I'm used to.

Long tail boat (the ones that you have to wade to) parked at the beach in front of where we're staying. Believe it or not, this photo was actually taken when the tide was relatively high.

This area has pretty awesome coves and beaches and cliffs.  It also unfortunately, is pretty small and it has a lot of tourists.  So nature lived up to my expectations of this place, but I was hoping that it would be less crowded around here.  Plus, prices are pretty high here because there aren't a lot of options for food.  It's about 2 or 3 times as expensive as what we've found previously in Bangkok or Chiang Mai.  And there definitely aren't street treats.  Although, we have turned to the little mini marts to find food, and that's turned out pretty well.  We found these nori (seaweed) crackers and nori potato chips!  Haven't tried the chips yet, but I'm certain they will be tasty.

Our kayak guide, Bao, playing with the monkeys. Bao seemed to be on pretty friendly terms with the monkeys. He said that he tries to train them and teach them something new each time he comes out.

We went kayaking in this canyon today.  The water was pretty murky, but we were supposedly lucky because the canyon was very full of water... it was high tide and the moon is full.  Cool mangrove trees.  And interesting caves and lagoons.  There are also lots of monkeys.  One of the people in our group freaked out - like screaming for several minutes freaked out.  I was close.  I'm okay with monkeys from the distance, but they kept running through our kayaks to get to the food that the guide was providing.

That beach looks really pretty, although the monkeys looked a bit too friendly. Did Mosquito Cave live up to its name? M does look very chinese in that white shirt. I don't think he's swinging from vines, but perched on vertical sticks. Btw, B is being the spelling police and says that you spelled inaccessible wrong.

Sorry about the spelling mistake. Railay is near Krabi. If you went by longboat, it'd probably be about 30 min away. We didn't know it's nickname was Mosquito Cave. We were just told that we'd be kayaking through a cave.

Whoa. The monkeys were in your kayak? That's pretty close. And in 'more pictures' comments, why in the world would you EVER go visit something called 'Mosquito Cave'? It just doesn't make sense. And for someone who's swinging from vines, Mark sure doesn't look like he's having any fun. Was that not fun dude? Maybe concerned with his safety.
