Well after today please take me back to Armidale. Tamworth is dry, brown, hot and certainlty not as appealing as Armidale. We went out to see the Golden Guitar. And missed the turn in because a motel has been built on the corner and blocks the view. But while on our return we came across the new equestrian centre, massive, part way through being built and of course in trouble finanially it has gone $100,000 over budget and is no way near complete. Back to the Golden Guitar and what a grotty cafe attached. The waxworks were ok but we would have liked to push a button and listen to the famous song from each of the artists. Left there and went to the Info Centre and there they have a " Walk the mile" history area and 200% on the wax works. Walk the Mile has push button TVs that give you a history of the artists that have come to Tamworth. Sheet music and old records and posters from times gone by. We spent more time there than we did at the Golden Guitar. Then down the Mall to walk from one end to the other of Peel Street. Some different shops, but not of any real interest. One observation was that the school kids congregate in the street after school. Many different uniforms, girls and boys and the language and the antics they get up to was more than entertaining. The coppers have bikemobile teams and they seemed to be more present after 3pm. After our shopping walk we took a drive in the country and looked at some of the old farm houses and out to the War Memorial and that of the Light Horseman. A great statue with every detail, both of soldier and horse. Back to the van and we've just had a entre of cabana, feta, English crumbly and Brie and tom thumb tomatoes and a heavily laced bundy rum and coke. Over the last 5 -6 days I've had a dull ache in my left jaw, hopefully it will go away as it has in the past and wont interfer with the van trip. Just like a dull head ache around the left ear and left jaw. The rum, wine and a panadol help to detain the pain. Scotch fillet steak and salad for dinner tonight and a bottle of Merlot wine. We'll have a glass or two for Mandas birthday and hope she is celebrating at the same time in NZ. Had a phone call today from Morry and maybe someone closer to him could drop a copy of the doings to date. Andrew how is little Mika now after her big operation. You'll need to take great care of her while the stitching settles down. See if you can send us a pictire of her progress. (For those don't know, Mika is the little cat we left at home to look after Andrew. She had to have her flu needle and be desexed before it was too late) Tomorrow we are going for a day trip out to Nundle an old gold mining and wool mill town.
