Korcula - Croatia Islands Boat Trip
From Europe 2008 in Korcula, Croatia on Jun 24 '08
After spending the morning cruising between the islands and most of the boat sleeping off the previous night’s antics, plus the daily swim-break ritual, we arrived in the historic town of Korčula. This is claimed to be the birthplace of the legendary explorer Marco Polo, though there is no solid evidence to back this up. Even so, there is a plaque on a wall of a house to stake the claim.
Dozens of market stalls selling the usual cheap goods and souvenirs to the tourists surround the central square and steps leading under the old town entrance tower. A concert of local singers and musicians was on the night of our stay, but we made our own fun in the form of a raucous party in one of the side streets. The cheap beer and sangria soon had an inter-boat ‘boatrace’ drinking game up and running, the results could only be described as messy.
