Tuesday was our last day in "the city".  And an early one it was.  Up at 5 to catch the bus so we could be in line at Good Morning America by 6:15.   It was our first experience of really riding the bus with real New Yorkers,  They of course thought we were an annoyance as we tried to figure out the entire Park and Ride system.  Unfortunately they don't speak Kentucky and we don't speak New Jersey so it took a while!

There is a lot of hurry up and wait at GMA.  The doors don't open until right before the show goes on live at seven.  On today's show, the hosts spent the first one and one half hour upstairs and the weather was done from a blimp, so our chance at stardom didn't come until the 8:30 hour.

The SOL is an awesome sight. And when you consider the millions (estimated at 14 million) that came by on the way to Ellis Island it is almost beyond comprehension.

We were all lucky (?) enough to grab some air time during the last segments.  We should have made a sign, but maybe next time.  After the show, the hosts hang around for a little bit to talk to the crowd and take pictures.  Chris Cuomo made the first dash to leave.  He was by far the most "serious" during the show and the least interactive after.  Diane Sawyer, a Louisville native, was very interactive during commercials but seemed rushed afterwards.  Her meet and greet time was limited also.  Robin Roberts was by far the friendliest of the bunch and stayed the longest to talk.  All in all our first tv role was a success.

Our next  stop for the guys was the NBA Store.  All things NBA and then some.  Kevin prepared for the Boston by buying a Beat LA shirt for the finals.  Meanwhile the girls went to Anthropologies, an excessively expensive store on 5th Avenue.

Lunch was at Rockefeller Center, then we off for lower Manhattan.  While there we saw St. Pauls and ground zero.  Construction is in process at ground zero.

It is a hard to believe the tragedy that took place on that site, and even more so when you see the daily activity that goes on there now.

Next we headed to Battery Park.  Along with Central Park, it is funny to be walking along in NYC and turn a corner an be in the middle of a park full of trees.

We caught the ferry to the Statue of Liberty and spent about an hour or so on the island.  The SOL is an awesome sight.  And when you consider the millions (estimated at 14 million) that came by on the way to Ells Island it is almost beyond comprehension.  It was interesting to watch the reaction of the visitors who were, judging by the number of languages being spoken, not native Americans.  It was obviously an emotional visit for many of them.

From the SOL, we headed back to Times Square for dinner at Chefs , a mexican restaurant.  The food was good there, as it has been everywhere.  then we left the city to prepare for the trip to Boston.
