A Wet Safari

Our safari companions. We were lucky to have such a great group, and it was with them that we huddled for two solid days of rain and wind in the back of our open-sided safari jeep.

We joined the Bundu Safari Company for a four-day safari in Kruger National Park.  We came fully prepared, bearing newly-purchased Christmas gifts: Clark got a new camera with a 430 mm telephoto zoom for wildlife, and Katherine got a pair of waterproof Bushnell 10x42 binoculars.  And boy, did they come in handy.

It was truly amazing to see the African wildlife at home on their native turf, and not stuck behind bars in a zoo.  When an elephant decides to stroll across the road in front of your safari jeep, you know that you're in Africa.
