Today is independence day! But one would hardly notice it if we weren't offered a desert with the three colors of the indian flag...

The backwaters at last! Great boat ride to Kottayam from Alleppey. Very peaceful and quiet (maybe too quiet after the first 2 hours). We could see the house boats, fishing villages, birds...

Kottayam was just a passing point and we returned by bus (because it was quicker though the road was a mess, even for India). We had lunch in this upmarket place, in the 10th floor, overlooking the backwaters! Great buffet, great ice-cream! Ah, if in Kerala try the regional desert Payasam, very good!

We're back to Alleppey getting a much deserved rest in a cool hotel we found out (even has a pool, and we managed to get a good discount :))

Dinner with the Chef... He started giving advice for a typical Keralan dinner and ended up talking to us... This hotel was really good, laundry service was impecable.
