Day 1: Arrival in Brussels
From Northern France and Belgium in Brussels, Belgium on Jul 26 '07
After work on Friday I had to go over to the train station and get on a Train for Basel (Where our flight was leaving from). The train took about an hour and then the hour wait for the plane all for a one hour plane ride. Oh well, it was worth it for 99CHF return flight.
Once we arrived in Brussels we went to the train station from the airport (down stairs) and we tried to use the automatic ticket machines to get our tickets and it turns out that they don't take cash and they only take some weird cards that probably on 5 people in the world have. Then we stood in a huge line to buy the tickets from the ticket window. Only to get to the veeeeeery front and have the ticket guy close the ticket window for the night. He told everyone to just go on the train and buy they tickets there. What a waste of time!
Oh well, 15 minutes by train later and we're finally at our last stop, Brussels Central. It was a bit strange to see how different this place was compared with Switzerland. The platform was crumbling, the roof had all been ripped out and there were wires hanging and all sorts of decaying things everywhere.
We then wander around the maze of streets in Brussels for about a half an hour before finding the wrong hotel. Then looking for another 10 before finding our hotel for the night. Well, it was a quick check-in and then time to go out and party. The problem with this is that we found tons of bars around Belgium, but they looked more fun if you had a lot of people with you. Nothing that just two people could goto and have a crazy time. (Tristan was being a huge wimp and decided to stay in for the night, pretty sure he had to check in with Maddi). So Jaret and I wandered around for a while and didn't see much of anything, except the stripper area of the town. Very strange...very very strange. The bouncer tells you to come in saying its free and then if you get close to the door the girls grab you and pull you in. Like I said very strange.
Well after that, it was getting late and Jaret and I headed back to the hotel for the night.
