for one night only
From Travel adventures by Tracey and Joe in Sydney, Australia on Dec 21 '07
We took the very scenic train back to Sydney in the morning, and sat opposite a couple who looked around 60 years old. The bloke opposite started a conversation with us and turned out to be welsh, having moved to Australia 40 years earlier. His wife was scottish and had moved out at a similar time, meeting each other in Oz. They had many stories about living in outback Australia, one in particular about a determined possum, who managed to get past the critter guard in the chimney and only climbed down to the fireplace when food was offered. They were both very chatty, friendly and funny.
Once in Sydney it was a short walk across the street from the station to our hostel. We checked in and went for a walk to the market to buy some christmas presents. On the way back we had a kebab and then had a little sleep.
As we still had some free beer tokens for bars near by, we had decided to have a few before an early night in preparation for the long coach ride the next day......
Once we got to Side Bar we realised it was happy hour for 15 mins and so had a couple of cheap drinks before the free ones. It was also the Xmas party in there and they had sumo wrestling type games going on, so we stayed til about 1 in the morning, that was a mistake....
