Salvador is a gigantic city....and there are so many places to visit, that it´s truly impossible to see everything with the short amount of time that we spent there. Salvador da Bahia, often called simply Bahia by locals, is one of the brightest gems in Brazil´s crown. Known as the African soul of Brazil, it is the darkest city in terms of skin color and the hottest in terms of culture. Here we stayed at Angela, Marcio, Lorena, Gabriela, Tuca and Orelha´s home at Villas do Atlantico (a beautiful tourist beach). From there we visited Praia do Forte and we stayed a night in historic Pelôurinho. We had so much fun just hanging out with Lorena and Gabriela, that we thought about sneaking them into our backpacks!

Known as the African soul of Brazil

Hi Marcela and Andre! Fernando sent me this link a while back but I've been traveling the world myself so I never had a chance to leave you comments. I have, however, been reading up on your adventures, and I must say I'm very envious. From your tales I can see that this is an unforgettable experience, and I'm very happy for you both :) Best of luck to you as you continue your travels. And keep sharing those wonderful stories with us b/c now that school is starting up for me again the only way I'll be able to travel is by living vicariously through you. Best wishes always! - Vanesa

Ae!
