We are stoked that we decided to bus it up to Thailand in a private minibus, instead of one of the big long distance busses, it made crossing the border a cinch.  The driver took our passports and made the immigration out of Malaysia and into Thailand happen in minutes, probably because he was on a strict time schedule, we were happy!  One we arrived in the border town of Hat Yai, we were finally able to get some money (we almost ran out in Malaysia because our debit card wouldn't work in any of the ATM machines!) so we bought another bus ticket to head north 4 hours to Krabi.  It is peak season now, so the bus driver dropped us in the beach town of Ao Nang where there was probably a better chance of finding a guesthouse that wasn't fully booked.  We lucked out and found Adam's Guesthouse that had one double available for 600 baht (we were afraid we would have to give in and pay 1000 baht!) so we were happy!  We strolled around town that night, found some KILLER food (authentic Pad Thai really is the bomb!), and indulged in a couple Beer Chang's.  The next morning, we woke up and were amazed by how different the town looked during the daylight....massive limestone cliffs overlooking the town and water; now we finally understood why rock climbers flock to this area!  It is beautiful.  The water is aquamarine blue, and thousands of sunworshippers were laying out at the beach baking in the sun, while hundreds of masseuse were hawking Thai-style massages.  It was a fun and easy intro to Thailand, but after two nights we were ready to move on.
