When I arrived at this tiny town I wondered what on earth I was going to do here and was already mentally planning my escape. Four days later I'm still here...

The reasons for that are several. The hostel itself is a great place to relax , with a large veranda with a great view of the fields below. It's also very sociable and I've been lucky to meet and have  laughs with lots of people.Evenings around the fire toasting marshmallows being a highlight!

Bellingen is a liitle off the coastal route but well worth the detour.People are attracted to it's laid back vibe and community feel. I've heard several stories of people passing through who have decided to move here within hours of being here.

When I could summon the effort I had some good days out exploring the surrounding countryside.A trip with others from the hostel to the Dorrigo National Park was rewarding. An easy trek through the rainforest to a waterfall was a pleasant way to spend a day.

I really enjoyed an 18k bikeride with some nice folks out to Never  Never Creek. some great place names here - theres a  'Promised Land' too.
