We made the most of the van that was hired and showed EmJ’s family the beautiful beach at Ussangoda. Nearly all of us went swimming, while John enjoyed his run, training for a half marathon! Nishantha was also able to join us swimming, being hurled about by the waves and landing washed up on the shore as per usual, like the rest of us. Great fun as always!

Had a meal at the Jade Green Restaurant, that always seems to take an hour in waiting for your food to arrive, but is cheap and tasty. After that, Ronali, Katy and I left at 9pm on the bus to Colombo, for my adventures in making myself legal in getting a passport. We had hilarious fun, playing musical chairs, as were trying to get the best seat on the bus with three seats together. Varying our position on the bus, meant a change of bumpiness for as to be affected. When we were at the back it felt like a huge rollercoaster ride, being hurled about all over the place, left, right and centre! I even thought I seriously said goodbye to my stomach at one point! Didn’t help when the back door to the bus was wide open, as we were whizzing along and round corners; nearly thought I was going to fall out of it! So, for health and safety reasons I asked someone beside me, to close the door, who then asked the conductor after having to go all the way to the front. He then thankfully after a lot of effort managed to pull it shut. Few minutes of feeling secure, someone then comes over and opens it to have a cigarette! Goodness me! The door just didn’t want to be shut was the conclusion and you’d have thought this guy could have waited just a little while longer!! We did in the end; find an ok place in the middle, where the bumps were slightly calmer. We arrived 4am with Hishan who kindly picked us up, and this time took up their grateful offer of offering their bed to us again. Have to say, it was literally for two hours this time, as were going in with Hishan to Colombo the next day.
