We’re driving through the Buda part of Budapest. Buda, interestingly enough, used to be an ancient Roman military city, and the ruins are still there (although not visible from the bus.) In downtown Buda, there is an ancient aqueduct and an amphitheater, which was built by Romans around 2 B.C. We are on our way to St. Andrew for shopping and junk. On the way are new condos, which look a lot like those in the U.S.

LATER...

So, St. Andrew is sort of a tourist trap, but I got some great deals on some things and I got a purse, which I needed because the handle fell off of my Chinese one. Again. My mother has fixed it once before. Danny left his bookbag on the square and had to run back and get it. Just now, Derrick Fox said "I like the sky," but everyone thought he said "I like this guy." It was funny. I guess you had to be there.

Last night we sang for the Liszt Academy (or Liszt Ferenc) Workshop. We got a really good response from the students. I got to sing on "O Vos Omnes" again. It was weird to sing in front of actual music students, instead of just people from the Jefferson Club, natives, and random tourists. Actually, for the St. Peter’s concert in Vienna, we met some people from Gladstone randomly on the subway. I recognized the girl’s Ibsen Dance Theatre jacket. We invited them to the concert and they came, which was really cool! The dad brought his daughter and a very young son, but they were very quiet and attentive during the concert. I talked to them afterward. Nice family.

I told Whitney that I would include her in my journal, but she’s probably never going to read it.

I go back to Vienna tomorrow. Exciting! The train station is right by our hotel, which is super-convenient. I only need to walk across the street to get there. Pepita, my dad’s former co-worker’s daughter, will then pick me up in the station and then off to Johannesgasse we go! I’m sort of nervous, but I feel better about navigating the streets, subway, etc.

I want to go to the EMI store in Peter’s Square. New goal for Vienna. Also, I need to relax and get some sleep! I’ve been neglecting myself for too long this trip.
