No seriously thats what the papers said! Sorry Sydney we seem to have brought the bad weather with us. Nevertheless I was very excited to be here and we had a great time.
Arrived from Singapore in the rain. We stayed at Evas Hostel in Kings Cross. Pretty basic but fine for what we wanted and it had great views over the city from the roof terrace. As soon as we had walked through the door there was a phone call for me at the reception (what timing!). It was my Uncle Alan who flew own to see us for the weekend.
The beaches in this city are amazing!

That evening we went to a nice fish restaurant called More Fish. It was a kind of posh fish and chip shop really. The food was great and it was a BYO. Obviously Alan came prepared with a couple of bottles of white in his rucksack! A couple of mates, Andy and Charlie, dropped by briefly. So nice to see them after so long! Later on we went to Darling Harbour to a couple of bars. Met up with a Charlie again and Ben's mates Liz and Adam. A good night but sore heads the following morning!

Spent the next day in the rain again. We got a cruise boat around the bay. The views were somewhat disrupted by the rain but it was definitely a good way to find our bearings. After a great lunch on the boat we got off at a place called The Rocks. Walked around for a bit but had to find some shelter. Luckily Alan knew of some nice pubs nearby. We went to one called the Argyl and another called the Hero of Waterloo - a great little place with a live band playing all the oldies. We visited the Aquarium. I loved the platapus there and the huge sharks and rays. Spent the evening walking around the harbour. The Bridge and Opera House are beautifully lit up at night. Took lots of piccies!

The next day we went to the Queen Victoria Building for a look around before heading to the fish market for lunch. Ben has never eaten so much fish before!! It was great though. Loads to choose from. A really nice bustling atmosphere too although when it gets busy there is a bit of a fight for the seats! Alan left in the afternoon to get his flight so we said our goodbyes. It has been great to see him.
The weather got a bit better in the afternoon We headed over to Manley to see Adam an Liz. We for a walk along the cliffs. Great views but didn't spot any whales unfortunately. Watched the surfers at the beach while having a couple of beers. Had an Italian in a cute BYO bistro then headed to Paddington in the evening in search of some nice pubs. We ended up walking for ages before we came across any though and when we did they were shutting early! Oh well we drink too much anyway!

Woke up to blue sky on our last morning so decided to make the most of it and do the Bondi to Coogee walk before going to the airport. Absolutely stunning walk. The beaches in this city are amazing!Ben showed me where he used to live in Coogee and Coogee Bay Hotel (or GBH as he calls it) where he used to drink.
Caught the bus back to Kings Cross just in time to get the shuttle to the airort. Sydney - a great city, even in the rain!
