After leaving La Paloma we thought we'd be in Punta del Este in no time and catch some of the great sunshine. We got there in good time but getting there involved catching 3 different buses. Our Spanish for buying bus tickets is slowing improving hehe and we're quite happy that we know the transportation system of Uruguay like the back of our hands now.
Described as the Monte Carlo of Uruguay, on approaching Punta del Este you can see that there's money in this place. Alot of nice apartments, hotels and beachfront properties. This place is absolutely kicking in January and February when the Argentines take their holidays. Even though it's only the first week in March, the number of tourists has pretty much halved. Apart from checking out the place our motivation for coming here was to chill out on the beach all day, get some colour into our pale faces and relax. Saturday's weather was overcast and our plan has backfired. Still, we had a fun time here. Our hostel was full of some really nice people and we had a fun time hanging out. You try to get away from them, but nearly all of these people were Irish. Ah well! hehe.
Hanging out in Punta del Este for the weekend.

On Sunday, our day of departure, of course the weather was fantastic. Irony, eh. We spent most of it travelling back to Colonia to catch the ferry to Buenos Aires where we have another course of Spanish classes awaiting us. We subsequently found out that the weather over the next 3/4 days was fantastic :o)
