Arrived from St Petersburg via London @ 11.45 pm .... we shoulda booked our luggage through to Roma, but forgot ... so at Heathrow had to go through customs, collect our luggage ... traipse to Terminal 2 and go through the whole 9 yards again .... made the transfer with 30 minutes to spare .... Alitalia is a 'no-frills airline .... so far Qantas is certainly the best way to fly in terms of service ... so, we are stuffed by the time we arrive in Roma ... but had fortunately previously booked a transfer from Fiumicino Airport to our apartment on www.romaclick.com ... when u arrive in a city at this time with comatose kids ...u just want to get into your beds ... so €57 was worth evry cent .... we also got to travel in an E series Merc with Fangio @ the wheel!

Here in Roma we've seen the Vatican Museum, St Peters [much bigger than the church in Thoona!!] and the Sistine Chapel ... and the 2.5 hour queue was not worth it .... fortunately jen had lots of snacks for the kids and they werte very patient ... and in the Museum you go through interminable galleries and chambers full of antiquities ... so by the time we got to the Sistine Chapel we were well over it! So folks ... unless you're into the god thingy ... I wouldn't recommend the vatican museum /Sistine for a family with kids .... or even without kids .... I already knew just how rich the micks are  ... didn't spot the pope ... i guess he was in latin america or africa handing out free condoms ...

Gelati & Pizza are cool 4 kids!

The Colosseum and Trevi fountain are REALLY COOL by comparison with all the god stuff and the kids loved them ...

Tomorrow we're off to the Forum and some ruins .... pizza & gelati are grace & Lara's favorite things about Roma ... just like Bliini was the best thing about Russia .... I concur ... meanwhile still have'nt found an internet cafe where I can upload some pics from the SD card ... be patient folks .... arrivederci!
