Friday 7th June – Mykonos/Naxos
Mel and Jas took off early this morning to get to Naxos, but Jo and Leigh stayed on to catch the cheaper afternoon ferry. Jo and Leigh had a lay in then went for a quick run, before sitting by the pool and relaxing! We ordered a taxi to take us to the port expecting it to come in about 30 minutes but it was there in like 30 seconds. Got to the port very early which was a tad annoying as the ferry was like 1.5 hours late. No problem though as it is to be expected on the cheap boats. Eventually got to Naxos at 8.30pm and was greeted by the owner of Windmill Naxos Hostel. We got a beautiful massive room with a kitchen and balcony and he even gave us a bottle of wine, welcoming us here all for 20 Euros a night, bargain! Went out for a delicious meal, Jo had stuffed tomatoes – new favourite and Leigh had this burger without bun. Felt sorry for Mel and Jas as they were expecting us here at 6pm, so were thinking all the things that could have happened to us!

Saturday 8th June – Naxos
Went to the beach early doors, stopping to pick up a tennis ball on the way. Got some loungers then went for a swim in the sea. You could walk out for miles and it would still only be waist deep, had tennis ball throws in the sea, before drying off in the sun. Went out for lunch on the beach – Leigh again had a burger and Jo a milkshake. Worked off lunch by lying in the sun again! Numerous afternoon swims and playing with a washed up football kept us entertained, until we went back to the hotel for a snooze. We then went for a wander around the castle and old market area. Got lost in the maze of tiny backstreets with picture postcard scenes of white washed houses with blue balconies overlooking the sea. Felt drawn to have a sit down looking over the sea as Mojitos were only 4 euros each and just within the daily budget! Met up with Mel and Jas and had our first disappointing meal of the trip. This was followed by an enormous icecream with freshly made waffle cones, yum! Concluded the marathon 500 card match with a few beers and a couple of rounds, which squared off the scoring to 8 all. The last hand being the most controversial, as Leigh and Jas had a miraculous 7 heart call and prevailed.
