We caught the early bus from La Paz to Copacabana where we then got a boat across to Isla De Sol, arriving mid afternoon in glorious sunshine.

The boat crossing over lake Titicaca took around 1.5 hours. Nice views of the islands on the lake on the way.

Once we got to the island we soon realised we should have left our backpacks in Copacabana as to get to any of the hostel you have to climb the 1000 (well not quite but it felt like it!) steps up to the top of the island. Very tiring in the altitude! At the top we found a nice hostel (only cost 3GBP for a double room!) overlooking the lake.

We explored the island for a couple of hours, checking out some Inca ruins and admiring the views of the lake. Then we checked out the West side for the sunset. Very relaxing and such great views. We had only brought a small amount of money with us as we didn't realize until it was too late there isn't a cash point in Copacabana. Doh, fundamental error. Still at least we are in Bolivia and on the cheapest place in the world.

We managed to have a lovely meal in a restaurant overlooking the setting sun for around GBP1.50.

Unfortunately we only had the one night there, so got up early and caught the boat back to the mainland to continue our journey into Peru, country number six.
