As you will all be aware by now, Rob and I are engaged!  This extremely exciting moment happened outside the backpackers we were staying at in Brisbane, we were sat on a step chatting away, when he went down on one knee and proposed, and of course I had no hesitation in saying yes! All very exciting and as my mum will verify I giggled away like a little girl for several hours!

Are busy planning the wedding now, which will be at Lake Tekapo in New Zealand , in December. I fell in love with the place as soon as I saw it and had already decided that was where I wanted to get married, and luckily Rob agrees with me!

We arrived in Brisbane after a 16 hour coach ride (broken up by a couple of nights in Byron Bay / Mulimbimby but these were fairly uneventful so I won't write anything about them!).

Brisbane is a really nice city - it's a lot smaller than Melbourne and Sydney, which I think is why we like it so much.  It has an enourmous shopping centre (sadly we don't have any money to buy anything but that doesn't stop me wondering around!), and lots of really nice bars/cafes/restaurants.

When we were in Sydney with Mum and Dad we had a conversation about how long you would have to sit by the Opera House before you saw someone you knew.  Well, we didn't have to walk very far down the road in Brisbane before we bumped into someone we know - one of the guys that Rob worked with in New Zealand is currently living here! He's a really cool guy so we've been hanging out with him a lot.

Wouldn't mind living here!

Although there is a beach in Brisbane it's right on the outskirts and takes a while to get to, so to make up for this the council have built a 'beach' on the riverside.  It's a great little place - one one side there is the 'beach' and the 'sea' and on the other side is a swimming pool.  It's a great place for kids (and big kids like us) to go and cool down, as it has been unbelievably hot here recently.

We've done a bit of work since we have been here (well, ok, Rob has done some work and I've managed three hours!). Rob had the easiest job in the world - pizza chef at the backpackers we stayed in.  The chef who works there wanted some time off, so he made all the pizzas and put them in the fridges, so all Rob had to do was turn the ovens on, put the pizzas in for 3 mins, then take them out and cut them up!  What a hard life!  He also did two stints as a bbq chef - the backpackers has a bbq on a Sunday night, for about 60 people, so he (with my help) just had to cook sausages, burgers and onions, and mix up some coleslaw.  And they reckon being a chef is hard work!!!!!!!!!!!!
