More cloudy skies and occasional sprinkles. We heard last night that some sections of the Camino in the summer get over 100 degrees. Compared to that, a cool cloudy day is just fine. Only two meaningful hills to climb on today’s path, both early on. At the top of the first hill we saw the ladies from Province (LFP)and chatted a bit.

Marie and I felt good and managed the day fine. This was our first day firmly in Basque territory. Aside from the houses looking a bit more angular, with steeper roofs; not much difference. Got into Maslacq at about 1pm and checked into Hotel Maugouber. Grim, but proper French owners and a small but comfortable room.

Relaxed in the afternoon. During our walk through town after dinner, we saw Leo the German and the LFPs. They were also heading for Navarrenx tomorrow. In Navarrenx, there is a special pilgrim service in the evening at the church and a welcome drink (verre d’ amitie) afterward. We promised to meet them there.

There’s a TV in our room (first time in five days) and before going to sleep, we saw tomorrow’s weather report. Not great, but maybe some sun so that’s promising.

Villages: Pomps, Castililon, Chappelle de Caubin, Arthez-de-Bearn, Eglise d’Argagnon, Maslacq
