After a few days of rest, relaxation and recovery (mostly mom on that last one- she caught a wicked bad cold...it did NOT sound pretty!!) in Hamburg, during which we had a couple more disappointing concert experiences (one sold out one cancelled), and one very interesting night partying with local football fans, and watched a lot of movies on our itty bitty computer screen, we decided to take a day trip to Lubeck for my BIRTHDAY!!!
The night before that trip was the night we partied with some local football fans. They were all St PAuli supporters and it was a very strange group indeed. For example, when was the last time you were at a sporting event in which the crowd was dominated by punks? Not just any punks, some pretty hardcore punks, pretty crusty punks, if you will. So we hung out at the big post game party (the team had lost!) and Chris actually met one of the players! He (drunkenly) said "Good Game man!!" to which the player replied: "uuhhh, no it wasn't" to which Chris replied "well, YOU played well at least" to which the player replied "i didn't play today" to which chris replied "BUSTED!" and burst out laughing at the exact second I clicked the camera. Very entertaining indeed. At midnight I got a big swingaround hug from Scooty poo and told Chris that he was required to be nice to me for 24hours. Then he chased me around attempting to beat me up. Luckily I was sober and he was quite... sloshed. So I was (for the first time EVER) able to punch and run and duck and get away. Or maybe that was his birthday present for me "hmmm maybe I'll just let her think she can beat me..."

Unfortunately, on the day of our planned excursion, I was wretchedly ill and didn't feel I could move, let alone walk around all day!! So we spent my birthday watching movies that Scott fetched from Dave, and Mom and Chris went and bought cake!! So it was quite nice, despite.
Monday we went to Lubeck instead and the weather made an effort to be nicefor the occasion (it had been pretty crappy all week). We wandered around the altstadt (old town) and went up a church tower for a wonderful view of the town.

Last time Scott and I came to Lubeck was just for a short stint in midday so it was really nice to luxuriously stroll about, hunting for bicycles (to no avail) and crossing the canals on lovely bridges. We stopped at a sehr gut pub that had very cheap regional food which was different and lovely. Chris got a PASTA OMELETTE!!! I had a german soup, Scott had a 'meatball', which was just a pork paddie with mustard! and Mom got the day's special which was stuffed tomatoes and something else that was amazing. It was an excellent meal, especially for how cheap it was!

We continued walking and browsing and stopping for coffee etc until the 6pm train. When we got home we had a nice supper that mum made, then Chris and Scott and I went to boat jazz, which was quieter than I've ever seen it (I blame Chris, he's clearly at fault for all the bad luck with shows!!!!)
Tuesday was spend getting ready for the Favenards to go home ,buying tickets etc, then I cooked a proper goodbye meal and saw them off to the train.
BYE MOMMY AND CHRIS!!!!!
