The drive from Lavers Hill to Warrnambool was a busy one because we were travelling the section of The Great Ocean Road with the most famous attractions. We began with a walk to Triplet Falls in the Great Otway NP. It wasn’t spectacular, but there was some water flowing despite the drought. Next we reached the Port Campbell NP.

Our first stop in the park was Gibsons Steps. Bren decided to give it a miss, but I walked down the steep stone steps to get a ‘sea-level view’ of one of the 12 Apostles. The 12 Apostles site came next. It was very windy as we got out of the car, and it only got windier the closer we walked to the viewing areas in the cliffs. The force of the wind was amazing. It made our eyes water and we had to brace ourselves against the strong gusts. Regardless, we spent a long time admiring the Apostles and taking photos. We ate lunch in the car, then drove to the Loch Ard Gorge. The Gorge was both of our favourite site of the day. There was less wind so it was nice to walk around. We walked down into the Gorge and enjoyed reading the story of the ship wreck that gave the Loch Ard Gorge its name.

It started to pouring rain again as we drove the last 60 kms to Warrnambool so we decided to splurge again and booked into a cabin at the Big 4 caravan park to avoid setting up in the rain.
