Kuala Terengganu
From February - May 2007 in Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia on Mar 25 '07
Our next destination is the Perhentian Islands and to get there we took a coach from Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Terengganu, in the North East of Malaysia. The drive took a whole day but was nice because it was daytime and we got to see the countryside. The views were particularly nice once we had crossed over to the East of the country and drove up the coast. Some of the places we passed through were sizeable towns but there were also some very charming little villages. Cows and goats were roaming freely outside people’s houses and the ocean was just 200 metres away. We stayed in Kuala Terengganu for one night before heading further up the East coast to catch the ferry to the Perhentian Islands. KT itself wasn’t really anything special. We did see a lot more Westerners here than in any other place we had been. Sadly, Malaysia has been disappointing in terms of food. As a foodie, I had high hopes but there is little variety and being a veggie is hard.
