Sophie et Rod: Alors, Udaipur, on nous en avait beaucoup parlé pendant notre sejour au Rajhastan: "c'est magnifique! c'est trop romantique! c'est la Venise de l'Inde!"...et ben... faut pas exager non plus!!! Ok, il y a de beaux batiments et de belles vues le long du lac, ce qui donne du charme... mais Ã  notre avis... pas de quoi tomber amoureux (de la ville!) C'est fou comme les voyageurs ont des avis et des feelings differents sur les endroits...

On y est donc restés quelques jours seulement... le temps de se ridiculiser dans un accoutrement traditionnel au Palais d'Udaipur (qui est assez impressionnant d'ailleurs!)... On a quand même bien rigolé ! et je trouve que ce costume va Ã  ravir Ã  Rodolphe !! Le temps aussi d'assister Ã  un super spectacle de danses traditionnelles et marionnettes... (on s'est retrouvés Ã  acheter une marionnette de 1m de haut ! que ma mère a recu et trouve moche d'ailleurs!..)

Mais le grand moment, et l'un des moments mémorables de notre expérience au Rajhastan c'est quand même qu'un jour, on s'est retrouvés dans un temple hindou Ã  écouter peut -être plus d'une centaine de femmes chanter... En fait, on a entendu des chants magnifiques depuis la rue et on n'osait pas trop s'approcher car il y avait pas de touristes et pratiquement que des femmes... jusqu'au moment où un homme nous a dit d'aller devant et de s'asseoir avec les femmes... elles étaient toutes magnifiquement apprêtées, maquillées, avec plein de bijoux car c'était un jour important pour les femmes indous... rien que les couleurs étaient un véritable spectacle pour les yeux !! Et les chants alors étaient incroyables!

Il y  avait 2 ou 3 hommes au centre qui jouaient des tablas, puis toutes ces femmes autour qui chantaient et frappaient dans leurs mains, on n'en revenait pas que des non professionnels arrivent Ã  produire quelque chose d'aussi beau ! Alors, je vous le dis, quand est ce qu'on s'y met chez nous ?!!! C'était vraiment fort, on y restés presqu'une heure...

Mais pour la petite histoire, on nous a expliqué que les gens offraient des bananes et autres fruits (mais surtout des bananes!) qu'on allait tous se partager!!! Et ceux qui nous connaissent bien savent bien que les bananes sont notre ennemi public numéro 1, je me voyais déjà être obligée d'en manger, quelle horreur !!! Avec Rod, on s'est esquivés Ã  la vue du plat qui n'allait tarder Ã  être prêt, pas sans mal car les femmes ne voulaient plus qu'on parte...

On n'oubliera jamais tous leurs regards, leurs sourires et cette complicite qu'on a ressenti ce jour là...

Sophie et Rod: Lots of tourists we met in Rajhastan spoke very highly of Udaipur: "It's beautiful! It's very romantic! It's the Venice of India!"..well...we think it's a bit eggagerated!!! Ok, there are beautiful old buildings, beautiful views along the lake which give the city its charm...but in our opinion, nothing to fall in love with (the city!)...It's crasy how tourists have totally different opinions and feelings about a place...

We only stayed there for a few days...Just long enough to make ourselves look stupid in these traditional costumes at the City Palace of Udaipur (quite impressive by the way!)..We had a laugh, I'm telling you!And I think it suits Rudi very well! Enough time to attend a brilliant performance of puppets and traditional dances...And we even ended up buying a one meter high puppet (that my mum has received by the way and she thinks it's ugly! great!!..)

But the great moment and certainly one of the best we had in Rajhastan, was when one day, we ended up in a hindu temple listening to more than a hundred women singing...In fact, we heard these beautiful voices when walking in the street and we didnt dare, at first, to come closer as there were no tourists and hardly any men...until an indian man told us to go at the front and sit with the women...They were all beautifully dressed with their colourful saris, their make up on, their jewelry as it was a very important day for indu women...Just the colours were an absolute delight!! And the singing was incredible!

There were 2 or 3 men in the middle playing tablas, and these women around them singing and clapping in their hands, we couldnt believe that such non proffessionals could produce something so amasing! So, I am telling you, when do we start in our countries?! It was very moving, we stayed there for almost an hour ...

But for the little story, during the ceremony we were explained that people were giving bananas and other fruits (but mainly bananas!) that we were all going to share!!! and those who know us well, know how much we hate bananas more than anything else, I could see myself having to eat them, how disgusting!! We escaped at the sight of the dish which was almost ready, but  not without difficulties as the women didnt want us to leave!!
