El Calafate

Well a lot of travelling and crossing borders from Ushuaia and here I am in El Calafate for 1 day!!!  Arrived in the hostel at 2am and had to get up at 6.30am for the minitrekking tour I had booked for the day - I was shattered, but it was well worth it.

Went on a boat to the Glacier Perito Merino and then went trekking on the edge of it.  The colours were brilliant with the ice looking so blue in places, but it was very cold and the snow started to fall quite hard.

I could hear parts of the glacier falling into the lake, it sounded different each time, depending on how much ice fell off the glacier, ranging from like a gun shot to a canon going off to a really big one that sounded like a bomb!!!  Unfortunately the weather and my lack of camera skilld means I couldn't get a good shot of it happening, but I did try.
