We didn't really know what to expect when we asked our hotel cab company to take us somewhere lively for our first night in Bangkok. He could have taken us anywhere. But we were very pleased he took us to the Suan Lum Night Bazaar.

There were lots of different things to do and a wonderful atmosphere. We walked in to a huge food court surronded by many food and drink stalls. There was a stage up the front where various performers sang, lots of streets winding away with market stalls full of hundreds of different products and also a ferris wheel.

Firstly we decided to grab something to eat and, along with a tower of beer, we got serval dishes between us. We had Beef in a Basil sauce, Pad Thai noodles with Prawns, Thai Green Chicken curry and Glass Noodles with Prawns. My personal favourite was the Beef, I even managed to persuade Paul to try some - knowing it would blow is mouth off (he can't even eat a pack of Nice'nSpicy NikNaks without a drink!).

We then had a walk round the stalls where we purchased some Thai boxing shorts for 250 Baht (just under 4 pound). We then went on the big wheel to see the city by night. There were some great views up there.

Overall the night bazzaar was a geat way to spend our first night. It had a great atmosphere and some great food. We really felt like we got a taste of the Thai culture.
