Tahoe City is located in North Lake Tahoe. The lake twinkles under the snowy mountains and provides views that are a great reward after a 3 hour drive from San Francisco. Our house is located right across the street from the lake, and you can get a glimpse of it from the living room. Only 2 other people stayed at the cabin that weekend, so it was very quiet. Decorated in the finest carpet and furniture that 1970 had to offer, the cabin is  cozy and warm, with a wooden sunken hot tub that looks like a witch's brew. But it's cute.

My roomate and I drove up for the weekend and spent both days snowboarding at Alpine Meadows Resort. Although the snow wasn't fresh powder, it was softened under the warm sun, so it wasn't too bad to fall on. I'm hoping for a very snowy season, but no snow on the weekends so the roads to and from are nice and dry.

At night, we explored Tahoe City for a place to eat dinner, but chose to buy food at a market to make at home instead. On Sunday we drove home with two more days off snowboarding to add to this season's tally. Traffic on the ride home was the only down side. There was a lot of traffic due to an accident and we were next to an oil tank truck for about a half hour while I tried to get photos of the message on the tank: Odorized, Liquefied, Petroleum Gas. Yikes.

I'm praying for snow too, haven't had too much yet and I've been out of town for the last few weeks! I was in PA myself where it has actually be warmer than California! Do you ever head up to upstate NY or Vermont? I know they have great resorts but haven't been there yet.

I've been to Greak Peek in NY and never to Vermont. A few of my friends rode in Vermont and they really liked it there.

I gotta say I envy you. I went snowboarding for the first time ever on the last day in the season in '06. I liked it so much I went and bought gear for this season. I completely sucked my first time but had a blast. So far here in PA we haven't ad any accumulating snow to speak of. Most of the mountains are closed and just started making snow the last few days. Me and my friends were supposed to rent a place in Tahoe for late this month but it fell through. So I'm hoping for some snow so I can try my hand at my 2nd day of snowboarding.
