Barrington & Surf Camp
From my trip round the world! in Barrington, Australia on Jan 09 '07
Finally started my East Coast travels on the 10th January, as much as Sydney was a fun city it was nice to be on the move again as 2 weeks was the longest had been in any one place since leaving home! My first stop wasn't actually on the coast at all as decided to travel up with Oz Experience & their first stop was inland at place called Barrington. It was a pretty long drive up from Sydney but it was nice going somewhere so completely different and see a different side of New South Wales. The place we actually stayed overnight was very remote and so chilling was pretty much compulsory as there was little else to do! Well that's not strictly true as it was an adventure lodge type place that did Horse Rides and Night kayaking but I thought all that was far too much activity on 1st day of trip so opted for a swim in the river and reading my book! In the evening they cooked up all you can eat pizza which was fabulous as am one of the world's biggest pizza fans. Apparantly the record there is something like 37 slices of pizza but don't think managed more than about 5 so not very impressive! Was a good chance to get to know some of the other people on the bus and had fun chatting to them over few drinks!
The following day we carrried on with the drive up north and after making a couple of stops en route we arrived at our destination for the night which was Oz Experience's 'Surf Camp' which they do in conjunction with company called Mojosurf. Free surf lessons are included but I wimped out of having a go but had fun sunbathing and watching the others which was good as wanted to see what was involved before signing up for anything! In the evening we had a very nice dinner cooked for us and then had few drinks, played games etc. When it got bit later we headed down to the beach to carry on having few drinks so to keep the noise down for the neighbours as quite a few families etc camping nearby. It was a really fun evening and sat around chatting to the other people on the bus and the people who worked at the surf camp, including my new friend Linus from Sweden. Denise, one of my friends from the bus did good renditons of scottish songs on my instigation, which was quite entertaining! Think we were one of the last people down on the beach but luckily didn't have an early start as there was going to be another surf lesson in the morning before we'd set off so could have bit of lie in!
