Valetta is the capital city of the country. It is built on a penninsula and designed as a fortress city. There are beautiful old cobbled streets and gorgeous gardents, cliff views, restaurants, museums, and the main bus terminal for the island. With enough patience you can get anywhere on the island from here. Realistically you could see all of Valetta in one day minus any major shopping sprees.
