Cycling down to the main train station in Lund, the plan was to take the train straight over the bridge from Malmo to Copenhagen, however something hit a train on the tracks so we had to go directly to Malmo to catch the train! No biggie, we jumped in a taxi shared with three other random strangers in the same boat, and caught a cab to the Central station and went to Copenhagen from there.

The ticket cost around 250 SEK, or $50 AUD for those playing at home! (you just divide the SEK by 5 to get an approxmation of what it is in Aussie dollars)!

After a 40 minute ride on the train, I arrived smack bang in the middle of the city, it was great! With the city's population around 500,000 it was a buzz with activity!

We headed straight for the bus stop, to the Zoo! I love zoos and it is always good to see what they look like around the world. I have to say though, I was disappointed a bit. The enclosures were somewhat run down, the windows to the animals dirty and the water even worse! It was great to see the Polar Bear having a swim on such a hot day though and I loved the seals and elephants!

From here we headed back down Stroget, in the centre of the city and the longest pedestrian shopping area in the world! Mmmmmm shopping! It was great, it had so much atmosphere and an abundance of shops and I loved looking up at all the old buildings! Ofcourse, I had to taste some of the Danish cuisine...and maybe I didnt do it in the most cultured way...choosing to try the famous Danish hot dog, as there were many stands in the city. I was somewhat disappointed, the hot dog was served seperately with a tiny roll that with one bite and it was gone!

After getting over the disappointing hotdog experience, we walked the whole of Storget which took us to Nyhavn ('New Haven'), it was so lovely! With all the bars and restaurants crowded with people enjoying the sun and overlooking the harbour!

We jumped on a ferry and took a cruise around the harbour, if you go to Copenhagen you HAVE to do this! For around 5 dollars, it takes you on a beautiful cruise for about an hour around the harbour! We saw where Hans Christian Andersen lived, some of the most expensive apartments overlooking the harbour in Denmark, and my highlight...ofcourse...the little mermaid! All while enjoying a Carlsberg in the sun! It was great!

Copenhagen was great, and I was suprised at how big it felt but still maintained a down to earth, friendly feeling!

Hi Skaize, Stroget is about 1.8km, but by the time you weave all the people...and stop for some window shopping (ofcourse ;) it takes about 30-45 min to walk! Good for shopping, as Lund and Malmo are pretty limited!
