We made it safe and sound to Tamarindo, a surfing town on the northern Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. A few bumps along the way and we settled in. We left early this morning and caught the cadillac of all buses- the Grey Lines Interbus. For five and a half hours it was only me, Jackie and the driver, the bus itself seats 24. Air conditioning, snacks on the way and three seats each we were able to sleep the majority of the way. Well worth the extra $15 dollars it cost us to take it, and less danger of being accosted on the way.

Tamarindo itself is beautiful. A real tourist town with beach cafe's, surfing, endless beaches, and a real laid back atmosphere. Saw our first Shell station, Subway, and Pizza Hut. The people are great and friendly for the most part. Still having a hard time communicating as the majority of people only speak Spanish. Love the way they say our names here, I'm Pamellla, and Jackie is Ackie for the most part.

Our hostel we checked into was one of the worst things we have seen so far, hense the tital of this journal. We booked it last night from a travel agent, arrived and settled in. The hostel was such a craphole! Imagine pink and blue mushroom clouds painted on the walls, soggy mattresses with Spanish cartoons on them, dogs with sores on them in the kitchen, and a winding staircase up tp our attic room that had gaping holes in the screen, mold in the corners, and an odor we couldn't quite place. Promptly checked ourselves out of that one and settled into a hotel 50 meters from the beach. The extra $10 a night wil not break us. Paid for one night in the hostel, but took our losses in good spirits. We were happy to get the hell out of there.

Booked a tour to go see turtles lay their eggs on the beach tonight. I guess they swim onto shore in the moonlight, do their business and swim back out. Surfing is tomorrow.

Miss you.

Your enteries are hilarious! I love them! It took me awhile to figure this "blog" thing out, but I think i finally got it! Nothing new here! Good decision to ditch the hostel...who knows what kind of night terror who could have conjured up there! hugs jl
